Our Objectives
The Network of Services for Biomedical Translation (RST Biomed) aims to facilitate the smooth and rapid transfer of drugs from the laboratory to clinical trials. Additionally, it seeks to provide an advanced, innovative, and easily accessible network of capabilities for drug design, formulation, characterization, and preclinical testing. RST Biomed serves as a one-stop service for the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical sector in R&D&I, consolidating a unique network of facilities, technologies, and specialized expertise that covers all aspects of technology transfer.
Our History
The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is the largest public research institution in Spain and one of the most important in Europe. Founded in 1939, its mission is to promote research in all fields of knowledge through interdisciplinary collaboration and technology transfer. With an extensive network of research centers across Spain, CSIC is dedicated to knowledge generation and solving global challenges through innovative and collaborative projects. CSIC integrates state-of-the-art infrastructure and experts in various fields such as chemistry, biology, physics, and materials science, solidifying its position as a reference in research and development.
Our vision
Today’s economy has shifted from being dominated by large corporations to focusing on knowledge creation, R&D, and the emergence of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Many pharmaceutical and biotech products in development come from SMEs, which often lack the resources for advanced techniques and models. RST Biomed was created to provide integrated, effective, and efficient access to CSIC’s high-quality and unique expertise in drug development and preclinical evaluation. RST Biomed fosters public-private collaboration, supporting the development of new products and processes to address society’s health challenges.
